Philosophy

In addition to Johnson’s achievements as a player, he believes in following the same code of ethics on and off the court — living and playing with integrity and honor. His philosophy is that every professional player and coach has a duty and responsibility to grow the game of tennis with energy and enthusiasm, while conveying strong passion with a positive attitude. Mentoring players of all ages while sharing his love of tennis will be a lifetime endeavor for him.

College Coaching

Johnson served as Assoc Head Coach /Assistant Coach of the Men's Tennis teams at the following universities prior to starting EJTennis.

ATP Tour

​

Johnson wrapped up his successful run on the ATP tour, traveling extensively around the world with support from the USTA. Winning pro tournaments in both Israel and Greece, helped him achieve a career high ATP ranking of 507 before he left the tour to pursue collegiate and private coaching opportunities.

College Career

​

During his time at USC, Johnson and the Trojans would win three National Championships. In 2014, Johnson was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team after his undefeated singles play helped the Trojans claim the 2014 NCAA Championship; in 2015 he clinched the Pac-12 Championships, sealing a 4-3 victory over Stanford. During his senior year, Johnson played top line-up positions (#1-3) and was team captain, mentored by legendary Head Coach Peter Smith, leading both team practices and fitness workouts, while responsible for the overall physical and mental well-being of his fellow team mates. While at USC, Johnson achieved Pac-12 All-Academic Honors, and represented the United States at the University Games in Kazan, Russia. He graduated from USC in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science Accounting degree from USC’s Leventhal School of Accounting and earned his CPA in early 2020.

Junior Career

​

Johnson began his junior tennis career in Northern California , at just four years old, and would go on to be the #1 ranked junior in Norcal in all age divisions between 10-18 in both singles and doubles, while also becoming a Blue-Chip recruit. He played for Bellarmine High School in San Jose in the #1 position as a freshman and sophomore, before leaving to finish his last two years through Laurel Springs School, enabling him to attend a full time tennis academy, prior to attending USC. Johnson is a three-time USTA National Gold Ball winner at Easter Bowl and Winter Nationals, winner of the final Copper Bowl, and ranked in the top 5 USTA National B18s before he was recruited by the #1 ranked USC Trojans.
